dear Aunt Donnave
I FINALLY got to meet Aunt Donnave and Ryan today! Yes THE Aunt Donnave, Abbey's precious aunt and so many of ours now hah I think we've all adopted her - as every one needs an 'Aunt Donnave'!
It was so special being able to meet them as it was like having a little bit of Abbey here too... if she was here that would have made it even more better! (btw when are you coming Abbey?!?) We all met at the Lamma ferry pier, and I could pick them out straight away as they were trying to find the ticket counter, so I kinda followed them, but not to seem like a stalker I just waited around the corner hah...
I was equally as excited to meet them as I was to go to Lamma, as I had never been before! crazy, since I've lived here for how long?! After a 25min or so boat ride we arrived and were suppose to meet some fo Ryan's friends, but there must have been some miscommunication as they weren't at that pier. Which turned out fine as we trekked up the paved hill and saw the beautiful sites of the mountains and trees, beaches and the power station. yes, it's Hong Kong and there's a huge powerstation with 3 big chimney stacks puffing out smoke into the beautiful blue sky... sigh
Our journey was motivated by the fact we had heard there was a little place called "Bookworm" that had amazing cheesecake! An hour and a half later, with the midday sun scorching down on us, we end up at the other pier to find only seafood restaurants and no cheesecake place :( I think we quickly got over the fact when we sat down to eat and ordered lobsters! YUMMMM!! I can't even remember the last time I had them, so that was a treat. Thanks Aunt Donnave!
Even more of treat was seeing John Snelgrove (our pastor at the Vine) and the family, along with some others from church, Karen, Mark and his dad... it was SOOO crazy! That's typical HK, where even though there are 7million people, you still manage to bump into people you know!
The best was when we were on the way to get an ice cream, we (meaning Aunt Donnave and I) saw these bags and yes we made a beeline for them and started ohhing and ahhing over them! I definitely know she's related to Abbey now! hah they were so cute we both had to buy one teehee... I love it!
Back on the 'mainland' we stopped off for coffee... and now I've been taking a break from coffee/tea/alcohol for the past few weeks (2.5 to be exact) so I can keep hydrated and train better for my run... BUT it's not every day that Aunt Donnave and Ryan are in town and that you have a chance to have a coffee with them. AND SO I couldn't miss this God-given opportunity, (who knows when I'll have another chance!) and pretty much downed a tall latte right there... sigh... it was good :) although now I'm paying for it ahhhh
What a great way to end the holidays! It was such a blessing to be able to meet more of the Abt family, they are so amazing and loving although their Texan accents makes me miss Abbey more! They're on their way to Guangzhou now, pray for safe travels!
hmmm... whose coming to HK next???
